Water and Wastewater Workers of Iowa Week Aug 23-29th
This week, the City of Manchester recognizes the workers who keep clean water flowing and wastewater moving safely.
August 23–29, 2026 is Water and Wastewater Workers of Iowa Week—a time set aside to honor
professionals in the water and wastewater industry who are essential to the health, safety, and daily life
of every community. They're often behind the scenes, but their work makes modern life possible:
• They protect public health by ensuring drinking water is safe and wastewater is properly treated.
• They keep essential services running for homes, businesses, schools and hospitals.
• They respond around the clock to leaks, equipment failures, severe weather, and other emergencies.
• And they’re trusted stewards of critical infrastructure, maintaining complex systems that most people
rarely think about until something goes wrong.
To the water and wastewater workers who keep our communities running: thank you for the work you
do, the challenges you face and the difference you make every day!
